Among the Natural Remedies For Age Spots, One is Effective in Clinical Trials

Natural remedies for age spots have been around for centuries.
Some of them probably helped a little, but none has ever been very effective, despite all the years of experimenting with them. That's why no one seems to keep using them very long.
Now there is a natural remedy, discovered by accident, that worked in clinical trials to fade dark spots on the skin.
Perhaps the most interesting thing about it is that it was discovered by accident. Skin care researchers in Germany were testing a natural old Ayurvedic medicinal plant from India for its ability to soothe and nourish the skin. It worked very well.
The accidental finding was that it also served as a natural skin whitener.
The ingredient being tested, now trademarked as Extrapone Nutgrass Root, is an extract of a nutgrass variety that grows wild only in India. It reaches maximum effectiveness when powdered and mixed with water and glycerin.
Extrapone Nutgrass Root can be used to whiten the skin overall. Women who want to achieve an overall lighter complexion report that within weeks, it makes the skin whiter and brighter. It is also effective on both age spots and freckles.
Clinical and lab testing showed exactly why: It blocks production of melanin, the skin pigment responsible for dark spots on the skin. The amount of melanin also determines whether our skin is naturally light or dark.
By reducing melanin production by more than 40 percent, any darkly-colored spot is naturally whitened -- but without any of the drying and irritation that is typical for chemical products and peels used for skin lightening. In fact, no side effects of any kind were found.

Organic Skin Care Tips for Dry Skin

People with dry skin may complain of a parched dry feeling and an overall lackluster appearance. This skin type does not produce the necessary natural oils and moisture to obtain a natural healthy glow which can be disheartening for people who want great skin. Dry skin often feels very tight and dry and often appears to be flaky, scaly, and rough. The biggest problems with this skin type are the onset of premature aging, the emergence of fine lines and wrinkles at an earlier stage in the progression of the skin's life. Another characteristic of dry skin is very small pores. Fortunately, dryness of skin is often caused by non-hereditary origins: primarily environmental factors, exposure to harsh chemicals, poor choice in skin care products and excessive bathing. Dry skin is best in climates with warm temperature and high humidity and does not react well to cold weather or any low humidity climates. In colder areas or during the winter months, dry skin will have even less moisture than the low amount it is already used to; causing chapping, chaffing, irritation and redness. As with all skin types, make sure to avoid excessive heat and make sure to protect your skin from sun damage by using sunscreen and UV protection.
Organic Skin Care Recommendations:
Moisturizing is very important for dry skin. You have to moisturize the face and body every day, sometimes numerous times a day - this is where it is imperative that you use products without harsh chemicals because you are going to be reapplying lotions and moisturizers so often that even a small amount of harsh and carcinogenic chemicals in each application will add up. Remember to avoid any cosmetic or beauty products that use harsh chemicals because this may be what is causing the gradual drying of your skin and only use organic skin care products. It has even been suggested that tap water contains chemicals which dry skin may be sensitive to. Simply switching to organic skin care products could bring your skin to a normal and balanced skin type. Also, make sure to avoid excess heat and hot showers as this may exacerbate your situation. With very dry skin, you could even apply an herbal facial elixir underneath a creamy organic moisturizer in cases of extremely dry skin. This is known as moisturizer layering (much like you layer an outfit) and is popular in any area where outfits are layered during the brutal winter months. Moisturizing masks and night masks are recommended for dry skin types up to twice a week (or as needed). Make sure you are applying enough moisturizers to the areas around the eyes because they are often first to develop wrinkles. Furthermore, smoking is worse for dry skin than all other skin types (except maybe environmentally damaged skin). Also, you should avoid any and all use of soap, which is extremely drying, on your face and body; if you refuse to drop soap completely (as some people do) then make sure to use creamy soaps with organic yogurt or milk and/or organic oatmeal soaps. Dry skin loves the soothing and nourishing effects of oatmeal on the face and body and even taking milk baths in oatmeal during the winter months can help to ease the drying effects of cold climates on skin. To prevent irritation when drying, make sure to pat yourself dry instead of rubbing your skin which can cause chaffing and flaking. You will need to exfoliate numerous times a week to scrub off dead skin cells off the surface layer of your skin; sugar and oat scrubs work great for dry skin types. This will also help the moisturizers penetrate your pores and get into the lower levels of your skin. Simple and light all natural toners, such as rosewater or an organic green tea and vinegar toners, are recommended for dry skin. Try to shy away from overwhelming astringents because they may further strip oils and moisture from the skin. As with all skin types, make sure to avoid excessive heat and make sure to protect your skin from sun damage by using sunscreen and UV protection.

Use Head Lice Home Remedies As Alternative Treatments

What do you do when you realized that your child has head lice? Well, the first thing that you probably will do is to buy a lice removal shampoo, hoping that it will kill them once and for all. However, do you know that you are putting pesticides on your child's head when you use a medicated lice shampoo? For instance, nix is known to be an effective lice removal medication by the American Academy of Pediatrics, but few people are aware that it actually contains pesticides that can cause strong allergies on some people. Hence, alternative treatments for head lice are gaining popularity as more people are turning towards it.
Lice are those grown moving parasites while nits are also known as lice eggs. The easiest type of home remedy is to just comb out the nits with a lice comb while according to the length of the hair is still wet or using a pair of tweezers to pluck it out. You will need to do this over 7-10 days consecutively so that lice are thoroughly removed; thus this can be a very time consuming activity. Even after you used a lice removing shampoo, you will still need to comb out the nits.
Another natural home remedy is to apply Vaseline, mayonnaise or olive oil all you're your child's hair to suffocate the lice. After application, wear a shower cap over your child's head, leave it on overnight and wash it away on the following morning. Although this can really be untidy, it does help in eliminating lice and nits by killing them through suffocation and will also prevent any new nits from sticking on hair. If you find it hard to remove those greasy residues, you can use vinegar to clean the hair.
Apart from D-I-Y treatment, you can also seek a doctor's help to prescribe a topical medicine call 'Ulesfia' for treating head lice, which does not have any harmful pesticides in it. You have to apply them on hair and scalp so that they are entirely covered with Ulesfia. You also need to apply on the areas behind the ears and back of neck. Leave it intact for about 10-15 minutes before you wash it away. Ulesfia also works by smothering the head lice and you need to apply it again 1 week later.
Herbal home remedies such as tree oil or other essential oils are also another alternative in removing head lice. However, these are not regulated by FDA and are not as effective in killing lice thoroughly. Just by knowing home remedies for head lice is insufficient. You also need to be aware of how head lice infestation takes place and take preventive measures to keep them out of your homes. First you need to know that lice cannot fly because they do not have wings. However, lice can crawl and they are spread from one person to another through direct contact.
To protect your kids from catching head lice from other children in their schools, you can do a few preventive measures. For instance, your girls can tie their hair neatly and use some hair gel to tame their flyaway or frizzy hairs. You can also educate your children not to share personal items like coats, combs, hair-ties, hats and scarves with other kids, especially if the item has direct contact with hair and scalp. If you are unsure about whether your kids have lice problem, do seek consultation with a doctor to get confirmation before embarking on head lice home remedies.
